Header Registration: Your Questions Answered
What is a header?
A header, also known as a Sender ID, is the name or number that recipients see when they receive your message.
Can I send SMS without a header?
No, all SMS messages must have a header.
Promotional SMS Headers:
Must be numeric.
Must be 6 digits long.
Other Header Types:
Transactional, Service Implicit, and Service Explicit messages.
What are Promotional Headers Used For?
Sending commercial communications about products or services.
Example: A real estate company sending project details to potential customers.
Temporary vs. Permanent Headers:
Temporary headers are valid for 15, 30, 45, or 60 days and can be renewed within 60 days after expiry.
Permanent headers require quarterly verification to avoid suspension.
Header Approval Process:
Only Telecom Operators can approve headers based on submitted details.
You can create up to 20 headers at once through the "New Header" option.
Multiple headers with different names are allowed.
Required Documents for Header Registration:
Ownership/Relationship documents for the header you are registering.
OTP verification is required to ensure authorized activity.
If you don't receive an OTP, check your spam folder or request a resend.
Managing Registered Headers:
You cannot delete a registered header, but you can surrender it through the panel.
"OTHER" type headers can be alphanumeric (3-6 characters for govt. and non-govt. entities).
Each header has a unique ID, found in the header section of the panel.
Header Approval and Blacklist:
You will receive an email notification and a status update on the panel when your header is approved.
Approval usually takes 1-2 business days.
Headers can be blacklisted by any Telecom Operator if they violate TCCCPR 2018 regulations.
Blacklisted headers cannot be used with any operator.
You can use an active registered header with other operators.
Header Rejection:
You will receive an email notification stating the reason for rejection.
You can also check the reason on the DLT panel.
Number of Headers and Registration:
You can register as many headers as you need with valid documents, subject to approval.
