DLT Entity Registration/Enrollment: Frequently Asked Questions
Why is DLT registration required?
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) mandates that all entities sending commercial communications (SMS) in India must register on the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platform. This regulation aims to curb spam and enhance transparency in SMS communication.
What happens if my organization doesn't register on the DLT platform?
Unregistered entities will be unable to send any commercial SMS messages, impacting their communication and marketing efforts.
How can we register if we are already registered with another telecom operator?
If you're already registered with another telecom operator, choose the "Enrollment" option on the signup page. Provide your latest Know Your Customer (KYC) details in the Customer Acquisition Form (CAF) and submit it for operator approval.
Do I need to pay a DLT registration fee?
Yes, a non-refundable fee of INR 5900 (including GST) is required for DLT registration/enrollment with each telecom operator.
Will my Principal Entity (PE) ID be unique across all access providers?
Yes, each entity receives a unique DLT number upon registration, which can be used for enrollment with other operators.
What is the Entity type?
This refers to your organization's legal structure, such as Private Limited, Limited, Government, etc.
Can we choose multiple categories while registering on DLT?
No, you can only select one category that best describes your organization's nature.
Why do you require both current and registered addresses?
Sometimes, the registered and current addresses of an entity differ. Providing both ensures accurate communication. If they're the same, check the "Same as Current" box to auto-fill.
Can we use the same email ID used by another entity for registration?
No, each entity must use a unique email ID, as this will serve as your login and for receiving notifications.
Is it mandatory to submit a PAN for DLT registration?
Yes, all entities registering for commercial communication must provide a Permanent Account Number (PAN). Government entities without a PAN can submit a Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN) instead.
Why are Authorized Person details required?
Authorized person details are necessary for official communication regarding your DLT registration.
Can we update Authorized person details after submission?
Yes, you can request changes through the Entity portal or offline by providing the required documents to the access provider, subject to the telecom operator's approval.
On which number/email ID will we receive notifications and alerts?
Notifications will be sent to your company's registered email ID and the authorized person's mobile number.
Can we register two different entities with the same documents?
No, each entity must have unique Proof of Identity (POI) documents.
Do we need to register again if already registered with another operator?
No, you only need to register once with any access provider to obtain an Entity ID. Use this ID to enroll with other providers.
Why do we need to submit KYC documents during enrollment?
KYC verification is mandatory for DLT registration as per TRAI guidelines to ensure the legitimacy of entities.
If already registered as an entity, can we also register as a Telemarketer?
Yes, an entity can register as both an entity and a telemarketer using the same KYC documents.
Can I update my details once submitted?
You can update limited details after submission by requesting changes through the telecom operator.
